HomeDataMate v6Setup InstructionsCreating a Backup Set

2.1. Creating a Backup Set

To create a new backup set follow the step by step instructions below.

1. Open the DataMate software and click the cog icon on the bottom left hand side

2. In the settings window that appears click the green plus icon to begin the new backup set wizard.

3. Name the backup set as desired, and select the type of backup to occur then click Next. This guide will detail creating a file backup set, for assistance with creating different types of backup sets please contact support

4. Select the source data to be backed up. By default you will be presented with common backup paths, For a more detailed selection click Advanced (See step 5), if your requirements are covered by the common options select your required backup paths then click Next

5. If you have clicked advanced you will be presented the option to drill down to any path on the computer to select it for backup. Find the desired path and click the checkbox to include it in the backup. Repeat as required then click Next

6. Next you will be asked to configure the frequency of your backups. The default backup will occur at 2100 hours daily. If this suits click Next, otherwise click Properties and modify the scheduler options as desired.

7. Lastly you will be asked to confirm the encryption settings. The default option will encrypt your files using your current login password and is sufficient for most installs. If you would prefer to customise your encryption settings change the dot box and fill in your options as desired. It is critical that you document your encryption password regardless of which option you select, as without this password your data cannot be un-encrypted and would therefore not be usable. Once you are happy with the selected settings click OK

8. You will be returned to the Settings page, to finalise the newly created backup set click OK

9. To save your changes to the backup server click Save Settings on the upper right of the main window.
